#ruletour BEAUTIFUL BERLIN
We had a great time at the Star Folk Club in Glasgow last night. One of the longest-running folk clubs it started in the late 1970s supporting and being supported by some of the most influential and revered folk musicians in the UK and beyond. The venue is gorgeous and as one of the few clubs with a gig EVERY WEEK - everyone should be down there soaking it up!! And the quality of the floor spots is through the roof!
The lovely hosts of our Secret Gig posted a video of Floor O Northumberland. What a gorgeous cosy venue and lovely folk too.
Check out the fab upcoming gigs there.
We’d like to introduce Colin our new band mascot, he’s a 9 week old terrier. Here he is with his PA Jane-Ann at our secret Edinburgh gig.
We had a fab night hanging out with Colin, Jane-Ann and Douglas and our lovely, mellow international audience who came to chill out from the ravages of the Fringe.
Hope we’ll be back again soon!
For more ‘secret’ gigs in Edinburgh’s coolest venue see here, see here:
We had a fun time in Perth last night. Two of the band are sporting new bristly beards (guess which two..) a few experimental moments kept us on our musical toes and we had surprise Borders representation from Hawick’s Gus Oliver. Trad @ The Tavern is a new folk music event/venue in Perth and still finding it’s feet - if you like your folk music get along there and support it and make the folk nights want you want them to be, they’ve had some great names on the bill this summer. Looking forward to Edinburgh on Wednesday - Ross Bandstand and ‘secret gig’ at http://house-concerts-42.posterous.com/ .
Ower an oot.
Rule Of Three are off on an end-of-summer tour aboot and we welcome any and all to join in the shenanigans. All details are on the tour page of the NEW WEBSITE (oooh) http://ruleofthreemusic.com/#tour and the next post is a wee flyer for your perusal.
You are especially welcome the the ‘secret gig’ during the Edinburgh Fringe - come and escape the chaos for an evening to one of Edinburgh’s loveliest gig venues, book through the website and get the venue details (and BYOB!)
Our pals at Celtic Music Radio are holding a Radiothon from 2-12th August. We encourgae you to tune in, drop them a line and send a small (or big!) donation to support Scottish and Celtic music in Scotland and around the world.
They are aiming to be Scotland’s first listener supported station so with decisions to cut back folk and world music programmes on other stations we love the idea of listeners choosing to support the music that is important to them.
The radiothon will feature tons of great music (as usual) and some special live guest spots and recordings. You might catch a few words from Lori in the mix too.
Go and check them out and “put your money where your ears are”!
